How to delete your BanDoc account
You can delete your account and the data in it yourself, at any time, in the BanDoc app or on the website. This page explains how, what is deleted, what is kept and for how long, and how to ask us to do it if you no longer have the app. It matches the privacy policy, so please read the two together.
1. Delete in the app
In the BanDoc app:
- Open the You tab and choose Account settings.
- Choose Delete account and all data.
- Read what will be deleted, type the confirmation word (DELETE in English) and confirm.
- When it finishes, your account and its data are gone from our servers and from this phone, and the app goes back to a fresh trial.
2. Delete on the website
On the website:
- Sign in and open Settings.
- At the bottom of the page, under Your data, choose Delete account and all data.
- Type the confirmation word and confirm. The account is deleted, and the handouts and cached translations in this browser are cleared too.
3. If you no longer have the app or cannot sign in
If you no longer have the app, cannot sign in, or cannot use the website, email support@bandocstudy.com from the email address of the account, say that you want it deleted (or tell us which email the account uses). We may ask you to confirm that the account is yours. Then we delete it and reply within a reasonable time.
You do not need to install the app again to ask.
4. If you have a paid plan
Deleting the account ends your subscription at our payment provider right away: it does not renew, you are not charged again, and the time left in the period you paid for is lost. If we cannot end the subscription, nothing is deleted and the app or website tells you so; try again, or write to support@bandocstudy.com.
If you paid in the last 7 days you can ask for a full refund first, on the website in Settings, or in the app on the You tab, under Plan and usage (see the terms of service). Ask before you delete. If you have already deleted, write to support@bandocstudy.com within those 7 days with the email you used.
5. What is deleted
When the deletion finishes, this is deleted from our servers and cannot be restored:
- Your sign-in details: the email address and the Google sign-in link.
- Your courses, chapters, handout records, terms, notes and settings.
- Your review cards and review history, and your quiz results.
- Your usage counts and your browser notification registrations.
- Your subscription record on our side.
Handout files, translations and AI quizzes stored on your phone or in your browser are erased by the app or the website when the deletion succeeds. If you asked us to delete by email, clear your browser data or uninstall the app to remove them.
6. What is kept, and for how long
After you delete the account, only this is kept:
- A deletion record: your email address in a normalised form (lowercase, with dots and anything after a + removed for some providers) and the time of deletion. It is kept for 30 days, for one purpose only: someone who deletes an account and signs up again with the same email within 30 days does not get a new free allowance. After 30 days it has no effect and is erased in routine cleanup. Nothing else is linked to it.
- Payment records: payments are collected by our payment provider Polar (Polar Software, Inc., the Merchant of Record) and processed with Stripe. They keep invoices, tax and payment records for as long as the law requires. We never receive full card numbers.
- Database backups: they are cleared automatically; the privacy policy says how long they are kept.
- Copyright takedown notices: if you filed one, the notice and our record of handling it are kept for the period stated in the privacy policy.
