BanDoc is a personal study tool for students reading the handouts of their own courses. Please read these terms before you use it. By creating an account or starting to use the service you agree to them.

1. What the service is

BanDoc lets you read handouts on your own device, lays the language you choose over the original, gathers a course’s terms and schedules reviews. The service is provided by 小紅科技工作室.

2. For personal study only

The service is for you to use for your own study. You may not use it commercially, resell it, process documents for other people, or let anyone else use your account.

3. Your statements

When you upload or open a handout, you state that:

  • It comes from a course you are taking and you obtained it lawfully.
  • You have the right to use it for your own study.
  • You have checked that the syllabus or instructor of the course does not forbid putting handouts into AI or translation tools. The first time you use a course we ask you to confirm this and we record your answer.
  • You will follow the rules of your school and of the course.

4. What is not supported

To respect copyright, the service does not support the following. Please do not upload:

  • Whole books, ebooks or textbooks. Each file has a page limit.
  • Exam papers, question banks and worked solutions.
  • Material from a course you are not taking.
  • Material from a course whose rules forbid AI or translation tools.
  • Pages that contain other people’s personal data, such as names, student IDs, grades or attendance sheets. Remove those pages before you upload.

5. No sharing, and no distributing

BanDoc has no sharing, public links or shared course library, and it never shows your content to other users. You may not share, forward, publish or sell translations, exported files or anything the service produces to anyone.

6. What you may not do

  • Bypass or break copy protection or passwords.
  • Access the service in bulk by automation, attack it or interfere with how it runs.
  • Impersonate someone else or use someone else’s account.
  • Use the service in any way that breaks the law or infringes other people’s rights.

7. Content and licence

The rights in the handouts and in what you write stay with their original owners and with you. We acquire no copyright. You allow us only to process the text in them to produce your translations and gather your terms. We do not use it for anything else, do not train models on it and do not give it to other users. How data is processed and kept is described in the privacy policy.

8. Translation accuracy

Translations are produced by a machine and can be wrong. For exams and assignments, go by the original. Formulas and number blocks are kept in the original and not translated.

10. Fees, cancellation and refunds

The free plan has monthly page and course limits. The price, billing period and features of paid plans are as shown at checkout.

10.1 Payment. Payments on our website are collected by Polar (Polar Software, Inc.) as Merchant of Record, which also handles sales tax. The phone app is not yet available on the App Store or Google Play. Once it is, purchases inside the app are collected by the Apple App Store or Google Play.

10.2 Automatic renewal and cancellation. The monthly plan renews and charges you every month, and the semester plan every 6 months, until you cancel. You can cancel at any time in "Settings > Plan and usage" with "Stop renewing". After you cancel, your plan keeps working until the end of the current period and you won’t be charged again.

10.3 Full refund within 7 days. For every payment, including your first purchase and automatic renewals, you can ask for a full refund within 7 days of paying. You don’t need to give a reason, and we don’t deduct anything.

10.4 After 7 days. More than 7 days after a payment, we don’t give partial refunds for a period that has already started. If you were charged twice or by mistake, or if you couldn’t use the service during a paid period because of a problem on our side, we refund you in full or for the time you couldn’t use it.

10.5 How to ask. Use "Settings > Plan and usage > Request a refund", or email support@bandocstudy.com from the address you signed up with. We reply within 2 business days. For website purchases, Polar returns the money to your original payment method. How long it takes to show up depends on your card issuer, usually 5 to 10 business days.

10.6 After a refund. Your paid plan ends right away and your account goes back to the free plan. Your courses, term lists and review history stay, and you can keep using them within the free plan’s limits. If you were a founding member, your spot is released to someone else.

10.7 Plans bought in the app. For App Store purchases, Apple decides on refunds; request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. If you ask within 7 days of paying, we tell Apple we agree to the refund, but Apple makes the final decision. For Google Play purchases, you can ask Google directly within 48 hours; after that, contact us and we handle it under sections 10.3 and 10.4.

10.8 Your legal rights. If the law where you live gives you more rights (for example, the 14-day right of withdrawal in the EU and the UK), we follow that law. Nothing in this section limits rights that the law does not let us exclude.

10.9 Unusual refunds. If the same person keeps buying and then asking for refunds, we may refuse future purchases.

10.10 Charges you don’t recognize. The charge appears on your statement as [to confirm: Polar statement descriptor]. If you see a charge you don’t recognize, contact us first. It is usually faster than a dispute with your bank.

11. The service is provided as is

The service is provided as is. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free or fit for your particular purpose. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect loss caused by using or being unable to use the service. Limit of liability and consumer rights that cannot be excluded: [to be confirmed by a lawyer].

12. Suspension and termination

You can delete your account at any time in Settings. If you break these terms, or a rights holder files a notice, we may suspend or end your account, without notice where needed.

13. Changes, governing law and contact

When we change these terms we will announce it on the website and update the effective date. If you keep using the service after that date you accept the changed terms. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of China (Taiwan). Court with jurisdiction: [to be confirmed by a lawyer]. Contact: support@bandocstudy.com.
