What BanDoc does

BanDoc is a study app for students who read lecture handouts in a language that is not their own. The translation sits on the original page, in the same place as the text it translates. Formulas, numbers and figures stay where they were, and one tap brings the original back.

Every term in a course is collected in one list with its page numbers. BanDoc turns each term into a review card, picks the day's cards by how well you know them and reminds you at the time you choose, so the review before an exam is already lined up.

It works on phone, tablet and computer. You can read one handout for free before you create an account.

Who runs BanDoc

BanDoc is run by 小紅科技工作室, a studio in Taichung, Taiwan (unified business number 95339185). The address is 臺中市神岡區豐洲里豐洲路256巷29之1號1樓.

How translation and the term list work

PDFs and photos are processed on your device. BanDoc does not keep the file or the full original text on its servers. Only the passages to translate (for photographed handouts, a reduced page image) go to the translation model, and the result comes back to your screen.

The server keeps your terms, your review history and this month's page count. Each course has its own term list. If a translation is off, you fix it once and the later handouts of that course follow your fix.

The translation is made by a machine. For work that counts, check the original. The privacy policy lists exactly what is stored.

How our guides are written

The guides are written for students who read handouts in a second language. They cover reading a handout, keeping its terms and reviewing before an exam.

  • A guide that relies on a rule, a price or a product feature names the official source for it.
  • Every guide shows the date it was last checked.
  • If you find a mistake, write to support@bandocstudy.com with the guide's address and what is wrong. We correct the guide and change its date.

A guide is not legal, academic or school advice. Read your school's rules before you upload a handout.

Languages

The site and the app are available in Tiếng Việt, 繁體中文 and English. The Tiếng Việt pages are written for students who read Chinese handouts in Taiwan, the 繁體中文 pages for students with English handouts and textbooks, and the English pages for a handout in any language.

For each course you choose the language you read in. Handout text in any other language is translated into it.
